2K Games has welcomed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Management Shift Follows Poor Reception
Brinkman takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's disappointing unveiling last autumn.
Recently, 2K president a key figure informed team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a more defined game identity.
Ismailer stated that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.
Trend of Strategic Hires
The news echoes a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to assist with the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the complete text from the president's memo:
Team—
I understand you all just wrapped up your gathering - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Last time I shared you all a message, I stated the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most driven and creative developers we have had the opportunity to work with - and we’re excited for that collaboration to persist.”
With your dedication and adaptability, particularly over the last year, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game demo was revealing. It confirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had refinements needed. It revealed the requirement for a clearer vision.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the input to heart and overhauled the title with a refreshed direction - one that’s positioned to fulfill its ambition to our fans.
Our confidence in this project grows every day. To boost the outstanding progress you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce Ben Brinkman as the new Studio Head of the team. Following several months of discussions, Ben starts with us on next week.
His guidance and experience in the PVP shooter genre is considerable, having spent the past decade and a half creating and overseeing some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, such as the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
I invite you all in receiving him next week. We are all looking forward to persist seeing the progress of the game in the weeks to follow.
David

Game Details and Vision
Project Ethos was unveiled in October 2024 together with a public demo. Then, the developers portrayed the game as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective roguelike hero shooter and an exciting advancement on the category."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in real-time to fit your unique tactics," the description reads. "Take on the opponents with new abilities, risks, and tests that change every session. Do you safely extract with your valuable rewards? Alternatively aim high, risk it all, and hope your team can achieve the highest spot? The option is yours."
Project Ethos lacks an official debut schedule or platforms, but fans can anticipate additional details as development continues.
